New Album Sells Over 35,000 In First WeekSingle “Heaven Knows” is #1 At Rock Radio For Three Weeks, Heading To Pop Radio

Rock is back as The Pretty Reckless’ Going To Hell album debuts at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart with more than 35,000 sold. Led by singer Taylor Momsen, The Pretty Reckless’ single “Heaven Knows” has been the #1 rock song in the country for three weeks and Momsen is the second female singer to top the Mainstream Rock Songs chart in the last 24 years (read more here at Billboard). The song is now crossing to Pop radio and was added this week to the Sirius XM 20 on 20 Channel.

Going To Hell far outperforms the band’s 2011 debut album Light Me Up (via Interscope), which debuted at #65 on the Billboard Top 200 selling 8,686 in the first week.

Razor & Tie Co-Owners Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam comment, “We are beyond thrilled by The Pretty Reckless’ chart success and huge start at radio. Taylor is a rock star and we need more of those. We will be supporting this record for the rest of the year and beyond “ this is just the beginning.”

Manager David Sonenberg of DAS Communications adds, “It’s extremely gratifying to see The Pretty Reckless at #5 on the Album Charts and #1 on the Rock Charts. A lot of hard work from everyone involved and well deserved success for Taylor and the Band.”

Going To Hell was released on March 18th and has garnered praise from press and fans alike. Rolling Stone raves, “This New York band’s brash second album rages with the upbeat, beat-wise humor that hard rock has suppressed ever since grunge. ‘Heaven Knows’ and ‘Why’d You Bring a Shotgun to the Party’ are full-on glam stomps.”

The rebellious video for the “Heaven Knows” has garnered over 3.6 million views since premiering on VEVO

Meanwhile, the music video for the album title track “Going To Hell,” is now over 5 million views.

The Pretty Reckless has supported Evanescence, Guns N’ Roses and Marilyn Manson on tour in addition to headline runs in both the U.S. and abroad. The Pretty Reckless is currently supporting Fall Out Boy on tour in Europe and UK. The band will return to the U.S. next month for an appearance at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards (4/23), preparing them for a busy summer which has the band confirmed to perform at nearly all of the major U.S. rock festivals, including: Rock On the Range, Rocklahoma, Monster Energy’s Fort Rock, Welcome to Rockville, Rock Fest Kansas City, among others.

The Pretty Reckless formed in 2009 and released their debut album Light Me Up in 2010 and a follow-up EP HIT Me Like A Man in 2012. After two years on the road supporting Light Me Up, the band has risen through rock ‘n’ roll’s ranks to become a polarizing presence. Over the course of their debut and EP, the quartet has sold over 1 million combined albums and digital singles. The band is managed by David Sonenberg, William Derella, and Erica Ramon of DAS Communications.

Brooke’s music is based on her life experiences, with each song drifts exquisitely into the next. The lyrics are emotive musing about relationships and life.

Though only 22 year’s old Brooke’s vocal and song writing skills are beyond compare for one so young. Brooke uses her striking vibrato with potent mastery of one much older, while her voice creates alluring twists and turns that personify great control. Then in a blink of an eye the frailty and whispered tones pierce your very humanity.

This is an absolutely amazing album I could break each track down but this really is one album that needs to be heard to believe and I don’t want to spoil it by breaking down every track just grab a glass of wine cosy up in front of the fire and put this on.

On the lead up to the album launch on Wednesday 5th December at St Pancras Old Church, London, Brooke is toured France in October, the West Country in November and is currently preparing a full UK tour for March 2013

I’m not sure I could actually liken Hellish Outcast to anything in particular, it sounds very new and individual. This Norwegian band came together in 2001, possibly with the intent to maim my ears! It certainly is loud, I’ll give them that! It’s quite brutal, not sure it is what I could go out and see live, but the name definitely lives up to its reputation. The music is very full on, all the time, with not a lot of breaks. So I think in that sense the musicianship is very raw, very talented.

The extreme sounds all mixing together make it very hard to understand what the singer is saying, and as a preference I like to hear the lyrics mainly. The one thing I do appreciate with this band is the fact that, ok yes, it’s very heavy music, but none of their tunes sound the same. They all have their own beat and I know how hard that is to not keep it repetitive.

They were previously described as the biggest unsigned underground band in their country by several magazines. But now are currently signed by transcend records in their home town of Bergen. So they must be doing something right to be picked up by this company. With similar artists being Keep of Kalessin, Byfrost, 66crusher and Breed.

Having several different changes to the current line up, the music has kept its same keen edge of death/ thrash metal. They seem very aggressive in their writing so I think would favour towards fans that are into heavier music, such as Enslaved who they have shared a stage with, although no news of them coming over to the UK, so my ears are safe for now.

You do however get a lot of music for your money with this one, packed full of so many tracks you won’t know what to do with them. But beware….not for the feint of ears, they will get a very good beating.

So, I was given this EP “Embers” to check out, never having heard of the band  Outgunned before I was open minded and excited to experiment. The first track really popped out to me as a tasty riff to open up with, vocals kicking in made me feel very Killswitchesque. Not normally a fan of such heavy vocals but these guys seem to make it work, it doesn’t feel or sound strained, the singer is very powerful. It sounds very well produced, like they’ve put in a lot of hard work into it. And overall the whole thing fits very well. It’s seamless and neat, really well written and tight, the drums and guitar really complement each other.

As the second track starts its right into fierce vocals, I find myself involuntarily bobbing along, loving the fast beats and passion. I think these guys would be very interesting to check out on stage, I can feel the energy. Half way through “Beneath a smile” there is a gorgeous little guitar solo that works really well. I really am drawn to their riffs and little extras that seem to be thrown in there like little treats to pick out. “Catharsis” has heavy opening drums, demonic sounding with deep guitars thrown in… almost like a ballad but a heavy version! The last and final track “Words of Resolve” really bursts out, love the opening, and stays heavy throughout.

I’m seeing great things for this band as they play very well. As a first time listener I’ve really seen a great spark and would definitely go out and buy their music.

11. The overview

“A view from above” will be the second album from DEADEND IN VENICE. The music sounds more grown up and the lyrics are aiming again to interpersonal issues but also other worldly conflicts. The metal part and influences in the music have increased significantly but it doesn’t harm the catchiness of the songs in any way. “A view from above“, the logical development of the sound from DEADEND IN VENICE!

You can be a part of that vision – just take a look at PledgeMusic and preorder the album or other very interesting packages to help in financing the recording.

This Cardiff based Hip Hop quartet by the name of Jugganote have produced something here, which on the whole, shows promise and really does convey what Jugganote are trying to do as a band. It’s just at times, the over use of effects can overpower the big picture. Prime example of this, is their first track ‘’Dreams’’, in places, all background music seem to merge into this over distorted, reverbed monster, which sluggishly walks along with the same pace as a zombie with a broken leg. This is a shame, because they’re good at what they do, especially frontman BeSpoken, whose lyrical flow throughout the demo is flawless, and it also subtracts the fact that it somewhat sours an otherwise, solid offering.

The next two tracks ‘’In Plain Sight’’ and ‘’Mellow Revolution’’ are such a contrast to before. Musically, they flow a lot better than the first track with just the right amount of effects and other factors to make them sound like a tighter musical unit, holding off the guitar until opportune moments, especially in the latter. Classic rock guitar licks complement a smooth tempo, which allows BeSpoken to dictate at his own pace, and the end result is something I wasn’t expecting when I first started listening to this.

The next two songs are tight and solid, but don’t really show them off as much as the previous two efforts. ‘’Blind Slave’’ and ‘’Drop’’ are both different songs all together, on the one hand you have Blind Slave, which is very similar to In Plain Sight, in that its just aggressive hip hop, with the right amount of sampling. However for some reason it doesn’t have the same impact as the second song. On the other hand, you have ‘’Drop’’, a more upbeat, bouncy affair, but I feel that this would be suited better live to appreciate how good it is.

This demo then, is again, something that shows promise, and I’m far from saying that this is a bad demo, as lyrically its top notch, and for most part so is the flow. It’s just the tendency to over complicate things starts becoming a dominating theme, which in my view, taints an otherwise good effort.

The Devil is written by M. Night Shyamalan’s as part 1 of the night chronicles, so 2 more to follow.

The film begins with the voice over of a security guard explaining a story his mother used to tell him about how the Devil roams the earth and sometimes will gather a group of damned individuals and torture then kill them before claiming their souls. This pretty much gives away the plot in the opening minute’s nice one genius. We also have the involvement of a Philadelphia detective who is with the death of his family, and the person responsible never being brought to justice. He desperately searches for a way to free them from the elevator while also trying to solve who is killing them one by one in the elevator each time the lights go out. What he didn’t count on was that the Devil himself could very well be carrying out his sinister deeds.

For a film that deals with the Devil, the closed in confines of an elevator filled with five people, and dark corridors, I was disappointed that the film is very light in the scare factor It focuses a lot more on the characters, giving you clues little by little as you try to solve the mystery, which ultimately makes the film more of a thriller than a full-fledged horror movie.

The key concept that will draw everyone to the film to see it is who ends up being the Devil. We also get the detective chasing his tail trying to solve what he thinks is an everyday murder, which is how we find out why everyone is there in the elevator as meat for the Devil’s picking, but the mystery of who it is, is going to be what brings in the audience, and sadly once that’s out of the way and the credits roll, DEVIL will be a film very few people feel compelled to revisit.

As a thriller ok, as a horror I have scared myself more looking in the mirror poor very poor.
