Southern California rock trio KYNG announce tour dates with co-headliner Kill Devil Hill and supporting act Crobot. The tour kicks off April 28 in Atlanta, GA. The band is currently on the road with Lacuna Coil and supporting acts Eve to Adam and Nothing More.KYNG is touring in support of their new studio album Burn The Serum out on April 15th through Razor & Tie. The album was produced by Andrew Alekel (Foo Fighters, No Doubt, Queens of The Stone Age, Clutch) and James A. Rota (Sound City, Fireball Ministry) and was recorded at Grandmaster Recorders LTD and Sword & Shield in Hollywood, CA as well as at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA. Pre-orders are available now at iTunes HERE and the Merch pre-order is HERE.

Listen to “Electric Halo,”

Listen to “Burn The Serum”

On their second full-length album and first for Razor & Tie, the band harks back to the essence of heavy rock ‘n’ roll, forging thunderous percussion to lightning hot riffs driven by a divine vocal howl. At the same time, they keep their eyes wide open towards the future. KYNG find grandiosity in simplicity. The Los Angeles outfit may only boast three members-Eddie Veliz [vocals/guitar], Pepe Clarke [drums], and Tony Castaneda [bass/backup vocals]—but their collective roar could easily tip the Southern California Richter Scale.

Formed in 2008, KYNG broke out of the City of Angels in 2011 with the group’s independent debut Trampled Sun. The album landed shining critical acclaim for its “California Heavy” sound merging the metallic meanderings of Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age with the timeless scope of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. They hit the road with everybody from The Sword and Clutch to Trivium and Megadeth-even being picked to play at Metallica’s first-ever Orion Music + More festival. Loudwire raved, “a hard hitting fusion of rocking goodness,” and Ultimate-Guitar added, “if they keep churning out records as good as Trampled Sun, they will be mentioned right up there with Mastodon and the like.”

Chaz: Vocals

Kai: Vocals/Guitar

Spenser: Vocals

So the story of Subversion, how did it all begin?

Chaz:   “This is a long story, before 2008, Kai recorded some songs and put them on the internet, and a friend of ours called J said that he should start a band. J and Kai started together, with Steve Fowler on bass.  Ant came in on drums, and Spenser on vocals and I joined after the original keyboardist left. We recruited drummers, got Steve Cross on drums, who is “Lars Ulrich’s younger brother”, they look identical. When Steve left, we got Rich, and ages before that actually, J left on guitar and we found Sean. That’s pretty much what happened, we started playing gigs in 2010, so practiced for two years before playing live.”

So describe your sound to the people unaware of your existence?

Kai:     “We like to mix the really heavy and the really melodic”

Spens:” It’s all about dynamic, if you listen to our first album, it doesn’t follow any    genre, what we’re trying to do for the next one is a lot more technical. If anything, were technical, melodic with a mix of new-wave metal

As musicians, who/what are your biggest influences?

Kai:     “Soundtracks”

Chaz:   “Yeah, big soundscapes and film scores. Bandwise, bands like Meshuggah and Threat Signals, Kai is a massive fan of both of these bands, that’s how he started writing music, through them. But of course we can go back to old school metalcore bands like Atreyu

Kai:     “It’s quite a vast list to be honest with you, we could go on”

So I over heard that you guys haven’t played for 9 months, care to shed any light on this?

Kai:     “We had a slip up with woman troubles, not mentioning who, but everyone started hating each other and we all got in fights over it, we didn’t want to do it anymore. Then after a while we started missing each other and here we are”

So what’s next after Tech Fest?

Chaz:   “Well, this is something we’ve been discussing, whether to do an EP, or straight in with a new album, we’re not sure yet”

Finally, if you guys could tour with 5 bands, who would they be?

Chaz:   “So let’s have one each, and two joint decisions”

Kai:     “The one I’ll choose we’ve already played with, Tesseract”

Spens:  “Mnemic, I love them

Chaz:   “Think mine would be System of a Down, be a dream to play with those guys. Now two together, Periphery, be great to play with those guys and Threat Signal. All are in arms reach, except SOAD, will never happen”
